Junín, Perú

Toromocho is an ambitious open-pit mining project located at 4,500 meters above sea level, in the Morococha mining district, Yauli province, Junín region, east of Lima. The operation includes a concentrator plant with a capacity to process 117,200 tons of ore per day, producing an average of 1,838 tons per day of copper concentrate and 25.7 tons per day of molybdenum oxide, over an estimated mine life of 36 years.

In this context, a series of specialized services and studies were developed, aimed at ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the operation, as detailed below:

  • Trade-off studies and process optimization: Technical-economic evaluation of alternatives for heap leach facilities, including infrastructure configuration, transport systems, pumping, and processing, supported by metallurgical testing.
  • Engineering design and detail: Development of detailed engineering for drainage systems, slope protection, and expansion of waste rock dumps, including drawings, technical specifications, and capital cost estimates (CAPEX).
  • Geotechnical studies and modeling: Development and updating of geological-geotechnical models, slope stability analysis, and evaluation of quarries and critical infrastructure.
  • Supervision, CQA, and CQC: Quality control and assurance in the construction of mining infrastructure, including tailings dam raises and associated works.
  • Hydraulic infrastructure and protection management: Evaluation, design, and repair of hydraulic structures such as retaining walls and riverbank protection works.
  • Construction technical support: Engineering support during construction to ensure technical compliance and construction optimization.
  • Permitting and technical documentation management: Preparation of documentation for environmental instruments (ITS) and support in regulatory permitting processes.
