San Gabriel

Client: San Gabriel

Moquegua, Perú

San Gabriel is a major mining initiative being developed in a region with high potential, with a focus on the sustainable exploitation of resources. It encompasses a series of tailings, waste rock, and water storage facilities designed to ensure efficient resource management and minimize environmental impact. The designed infrastructure includes waste rock dumps (WRDs), water dams, and platforms for camps and services.

In this context, a series of specialized services and studies were developed, aimed at ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the operation, as detailed below:

  • Conceptual and feasibility studies: Development of studies for tailings storage facilities (conventional, thickened, and filtered), waste rock dumps (WRDs), dams, and water reservoirs, including comprehensive evaluations for different project phases.
  • Engineering design and detail: Preparation of basic and detailed engineering for WRDs, tailings storage facilities, platforms, stockpiles, water dams, and associated infrastructure, including engineering optimization and modifications.
  • Alternative evaluation and trade-off studies: Technical-economic analysis of different configurations of storage facilities, tailings, and hydraulic systems to define optimal and sustainable solutions.
  • Specialized geotechnical studies: Geotechnical characterization of platforms, camps, quarries, and critical infrastructure, including stability analysis, design verification, and ground condition assessments.
  • Water resource management: Development of water balances, water use studies, dam design, and groundwater flow simulations for efficient water management.
  • Environmental management and mine closure: Preparation of closure plans for storage facilities and mining components, as well as support in modifications of environmental instruments (EIAsd).
  • Supervision, CQA/CQC, and construction support: Construction supervision, quality assurance and quality control, technical support during construction, and support in material procurement.
  • Risk and external conditions studies: Evaluation of seismic hazard and other critical factors for the safe design of mining infrastructure.
