Since 2013, Anddes has developed tailings dam failure simulation studies to determine flood patterns and impacts for different mining units in Peru and other countries. This simulation is carried out by applying three methods (Graham, Flood Comparison, Graham D Variation and DV) and following the guidelines of the CDA and the GISTM. As a result, we currently have extensive knowledge of the subject, which includes a more precise estimate of the potential loss of life in the event of a potential failure of a tailings dam, which allows the classification by consequences of these structures, accurately determining this the hydrological and seismic return periods for the design of tailings deposits.
