On March 21, 2017, our General Manager, Denys Parra, was in charge of the conference “Seismic Analysis of Geotechnical Structures” organized by the Peruvian Association of Geotechnical Engineering, under the auspices of the National Council of the College of Engineers of Peru. The conference dealt with seismic behavior and analysis and geotechnical structures, such as earth dams, embankments, tailings dams, leach pads, dumps, etc. In addition, the concept of the seismic coefficient and its obtaining from modern practices was described; The basic concepts of the dynamic properties of soils and interfaces, and their influence on the seismic response and the existing field and laboratory methods for their determination were described; Likewise, simplified and rigorous methods for determining earthquake-induced displacements were presented; finally a case study of the seismic analysis of a mining structure was presented.
