Sergio Castro

Civil engineer with 14 years of experience in geotechnical exploration, geotechnical–geomechanical modeling, and the design/review of mining infrastructure, including open pits, heap leach pads, waste rock dumps, tailings storage facilities/dams, and water dams. He has led and executed analyses of physical stability and seepage, seismic response, and stress–strain evaluation (FEM/FDM/DEM) under static and dynamic conditions, as well as kinematic analyses and rock failure mechanisms. Additionally, he conducts performance inspections and geotechnical monitoring (instrumentation and blast control) to support operations, detailed/feasibility engineering, and Engineer of Record (EoR) services in projects across Peru and Chile.
