What is the difference between conductive and non-conductive geomembranes, and what would be the best option to use in leaching pads?
A conductive geomembrane allows geoelectrical tests to detect defects in the geomembrane which, in the long term, will imply solution leaks; however, if the geomembrane is not conductive, geoelectrical tests can also be performed so its use is not strictly necessary. In the case of double-lined wells, if the primary (upper) geomembrane is not conductive, it is not possible to perform these geoelectric tests, so its use is recommended for these applications.
